Lift up your hearts,Lift up your Voices- Diocesan Gathering For Schools in the Diocese

A Musical Celebration for Young People preparing for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress.

This is a special year in Ireland that we all can be a part of, the 50th International Eucharistic Congress.
This is an event that takes place every four years in various parts of the world, where people young and old, from all over the world, can come together and celebrate, what the Eucharist and our faith means to us.
Many older people recall stories that were told about the last Eucharistic Congress in Dublin in 1932 and how it was such a memorable occasion in the life of our country.
This is an opportunity to be a part of history as well, as the diocese hosts a special event for the students in our secondary schools.

This event is to take place on Friday 23rd March in Athlone I.T. and will include celebration Music, workshops and testimonies that will give a flavour of what will take place during the Congress itself and the special Youth Space that will be a part of it.

Guest speakers will include: Ger Brennan: Dublin Footballer, Helen Toner: Youth Ministry Director in Knock,
Also those involved with preparing the Chiara Luce Youth Space for the Eucharistic Congress and members of the Focolare Movement.

Anam:
Are the Contemporary Music Group who will lead the evening’s activities. The students will join in throughout the evening and as the theme song for the Congress states “though we are many, we are one body”, on the night we will blend as one voice.
This is a unique occasion for the diocese and it promises to be an event you won’t want to miss..
There are a number of workshops: Art Reflection, Prayer through Scripture, Attitude of Blessed Chiara Luce: A Modern Day Role Model and Symbols for our Souls; Through Living His Words in our daily life.

A message from Bishop Colm O Reilly on the upcoming Diocesan Congress

Dear Friends,
I am hoping that many young people will arrive at the AIT in Athlone on the 23rd of March for the Musical Celebration of the Eucharistic Congress. When young people come to such events, they bring something very precious – life and joy. That is why I know that if you decide to come, you will be glad you did so.

I look forward to this event because I know the celebration of the Congress will not be complete without the presence of young people. So nobody should ask : “Will I be welcome?”. Of course you will. Christ welcomes you. The organisers of the event welcome you. The Congress offers us all an opportunity to be united – united with Christ and with one another.
Bishop Colm O Reilly
